About Coach Kiernan

Coach Kiernan returns to Troy HS after an 18 year career at Mater Dei High School. Coach Kiernan's tenure at Mater Dei has been nothing short of remarkable. Coach Kiernan has won two National Championships, three State Championships, six CIF Championships and six Southern California Regional Championships.

Coach Kiernan has won six State Championships and 12 CIF Titles overall and became the all-time winningest girls' basketball coach in California History with 900 wins! In 2011, Coach Kiernan was selected as the Orange County Register and Los Angeles Times Coach of the Year as well as the CIF Division 1AA Coach of the Year and the National High School Coaches Association National Coach of the Year.

In 17 years at Mater Dei, Coach Kiernan's teams are 418-51, and he owns a 907-181 career record. In 2011 Mater Dei became the first girls' basketball team in five years to finish No. 1 in the USA Today Super 25 in consecutive seasons, and the newspaper also named Coach Kiernan its National Coach of the Year in 2010.

While at Troy High School Coach Kiernan had 24 of his players go on to play college basketball and has sent 40+ Mater Dei players to the college ranks.
